The FlyOver Tech Fest has a ton of content, fantastic speakers, and an innovative approach that includes tech companies doing more with less.
But, it was missing something…
We’ve spent countless hours on the whiteboard, trying to figure out what would put the fest over the top.
There were arguments. Tears.
Okay, I’m just pulling your leg. We haven’t had arguments, and no one cried.
We have tried to plan out the fest to keep it engaging, and there have been whiteboard sessions.
Yet, the thing that we missed in our initial planning became apparent once we talked to Wil and Ryan with startups.com.
They’re the Co-Hosts of the popular show, Startups Therapy Podcast where they leverage their decades spent starting numerous companies to discuss, and argue, about topics in the startup world.
“We dive deep into the problems startup Founders face every day to unpack what’s really at stake and how to actually solve them.”
For the fest, they’ll tackle the topic, “Is it Better to Be Located in a Major City?”
This question is close to our heart as we have to assume it is close to others in flyover country as well.
Larger cities do have larger networks, closer access to resources and funding, but they also have more competition.
I know we wouldn’t trade starting up Structurely in Ames, Iowa, for any more massive metropolis.
Why would you want to listen?
If you’re looking to start a new company, you seek wisdom to help your decision making. Well, these guys are the GOATS. Between them, they’ve started 14 companies, so they know a thing or two about the process. They also know a thing or two about the benefits of living in a large city when it comes to growing your startup; they both live in the bustling metropolis of Columbus, Ohio, but each has spent time elsewhere in their journeys.
